If you think education is expensive, try ignorance...

Mediatization, March 1st-3rd, 2010

The course was arranged in cooperation with Media Studies at the University of Oslo. Thanks to this, we could invite several leading international scholars in the field, and the course turned out to be an interesting exchange on relevant topics both among scholars and students, and among the scholars themselves. This experience of scholarly exchange and debate was very much appreciated by the students, as they indicated in the evaluation of the course. Also on a more general level, the course was well evaluated.

Lecturers: Stig Hjarvard (Copenhagen), Gordon Lynch (London), Knut Lundby, Mia Løvheim (both Oslo), Stewart Hoover (Denver, CO).

Place: MF Norwegian School of Theology. Approx. 30 students and faculty participated

Summer School course: Empirical Studies and Dimensions of Normativity. August 12th – 19th, 2010

Place: Metochi, Lesbos
Lecturers: Kari Storstein Haug, Jan-Olav Henriksen, Paul Leer-Salvesen, Ole Preben Riis, Harald Hegstad.
The course was a combination of lectures and discussion of student presentations. Due to lack of material for the topic, the lecturers were challenged to work out manuscripts that could be accessible for the students. These manuscripts are presently developed towards a book. 16 students participated. The course was announced as a national open course for PhD-students.

Globalization, November 15th -17th, 2010

Lecturers: Roland Robertson, Rebecca Catto, Thomas Sundnes Drønen, Bård Mæland.
Place: Stavanger, The School of Mission and Theology (MHS), with 9 students participating.
The turnout for this course was not as good as we could have wished, but those present expressed their appreciation of the combination of lectures by established and younger scholars.
