We are pleased to announce that this year's autumn will be hosted by The University of Stavanger. The course theme will be "Religion, materiality and nature." Starting Monday, Nov 7 at 09:00, ending Tuesday, Nov 8 at 16:00.

Religion has always been about materiality, like objects, images, buildings, and places that are used in rituals or viewed as holy entities or surroundings. Likewise, religious traditions are concerned with nature; in the forms of holy mountains, rivers, forests, objects, and nature as a kind of entity in itself. In addition, gods and supernatural agents and forces are believed to inhabit materiality and nature in different ways. The two categories, materiality and nature, overlap since materiality ultimately comes from nature, somewhere in the specter between its raw form and human constructions where the connection to nature seems to be cut off.
