RVS is happy to invite to its Summer school at beautiful Metochi in Lesbos, Greece. The Summer school is tailor-made for PhD students working on empirical projects within religion/values/society. Thematically, the summer school goes on a tri-annual cycle. This year's topic: Analysis. 

PROGRAM 

The daily program is as follows: Plenary sessions from 9 AM to 1 PM, with lectures on various aspects on analysis in empirical research. Lunch and siesta from 1 to 5. Groups with paper responses 5 PM to 7 PM. 

There are two excursions during the week, one half day and one full day. 

All participants hand in a short paper (deadline June 15), which is discussed in groups. The short paper can be extended to a full paper, to be handed in after the course (deadline usually in October). The summer school gives 2 ECTS without full paper, and 5 ECTS with full paper. 

THE PLACE  

The summer school is held at Metochi Study Centre in Lesbos, Greece. The centre is run by the University of Agder, and is located on monastery grounds. It contains sleeping rooms, a dining hall, and group/lecture rooms, surrounding a courtyard. Please note that the study centre is not a five star hotel: Standard rooms are double, and there is little air condition. There is bike rental, and a 20 minutes bike ride down to the beach (Skala Kallonis).  

GETTING THERE - AND BACK 

The flight Oslo - Lesbos return is included. 

• We leave Oslo Sunday Aug 11th 0600.
• We arrive back Sunday Aug 18th 1415.  

RVS covers hotel room from Saturday 10 to Sunday (indicate if you need in the application form). 

APPLICATION, ECONOMY 

During this last period of the NCR-funded RVS, all PhD students at present and future RVS partner institutions are welcome to apply for the course. RVS covers the flight Oslo - Lesbos return, accommodation, and all meals (except one lunch during an excursion) during the week. We also cover the participants travel to and from Oslo airport, i.e., from the campus city where you are enrolled as a PhD student (contact RVS management if you have questions about this).
